Established in 1968 by Oscar Bader, Bader Auction serves the Mid-Missouri area--including the counties of Callaway, Franklin, Gasconade, Montgomery, and Warren. For over 40 years before his death in 2011 Oscar conducted all the Bader Auctions. It was Oscar’s dream to have his sons to continue his legacy.
Oscar's wife, Henrietta, worked as the clerk and cashier for many auctions over the years. Oscar and Henrietta's children tagged along to many auctions learning the ropes of all the jobs needed to successfully conduct an auction. While growing up, Leo and Donald worked with their father as runners, then ring men.
In 2001, Leo started working side by side with his father, first as an auctioneer, then as co-business manager. In January 2014, the family was proud to announce that Donald became a licensed auctioneer and joined Leo in the family business. Ed Powers also worked, and continues to work with Bader Auction Service over the last 30 years, beginning with Oscar then continuing on with the next generation of Bader auctioneers, Leo and Donald
Since March of 2013, Bader Auction Service has held monthly consignment auctions at Shay's Auction Barn in Jonesburg, Missouri. Monthly auctions are generally held the first Friday of each month.
In addition to monthly auctions in Jonesburg, today Leo and Donald, along with the new generation of auction crew, continue to provide many auction services. That include: Farm, Household, Estates, Real Estate, and Personal Property. In addition, the Bader family routinely can be found helping out at a variety of charity auctions.
The next generation of Bader Auction Service with Leo, Donald, Ed, Spouses, Children, Grandchildren and even great grandchildren strive to honor Oscar and his legacy.
